Fraud has a new face in the 21st Century

Welcome to FinCrime.Org, the premier site devoted to teaching the basics on how to protect yourself from Internet Fraud and Financial Crime.

One of the best definitions we have ever heard for fraud of any sort is:

Someone wants something for nothing - and will lie to get it.

A pretty simple definition - and pretty accurate. Keep it in mind while browsing through our site.

Fraud - a lifestyle

Fraud, for some, is a way of life. Criminals who do Fraud care nothing about your feelings, your status in life or how well you do your job. They do not care about your economic or educational status, all they care about is getting what you already have. They are interested in your chequebook (it has your bank numbers on it), your credit card (the number is good enough), the carbon copy of you bank deposit you carelessly throw into the public garbage, or drop onto the street. They want your date of birth, your birth certificate, driver's license or any other piece of personal identification that you have.

They are interested in your computer - gaining access through viruses, keystroke loggers and spyware. They even hang around public computer 'hotspots' in cafe's, libraries and schools, watching for the careless and unwary.

In fact, criminals who do Fraud want it all, they want it for free and they don't care who they target.

Fraud is no longer the "victimless" crime it was once thought to be; in reality, there are many, many victims - just don't be one.
